2003 Ninja 250* |
On I purchased this Jeep
from a dealer who got it in a new car trade in. Cherokees have always been
pleasant to drive and rather easy to work on.
The rear bumper was bumped, the fan motor and waterpump had to be replaced. I would advise anyone who buys a Cherokee to replace the waterpump if it has not been replaced in a while and the thermostat. On both of the Cherokees that I have had this same item caused me trouble. The bolts holding the transmission mounts were missing. Lucky for me I kept the bolts out of a Cherokee that I took a transfer case out of. The muffer system from the cat back were purchased from NAPA. The only other thing that I have had to replace that was not common maintenance was the idler pully. Goodyear Wrangers RT 's are the tires that I choose for the ability to handle snow. They are a lot louder then stock, but it is great to have that extra bite when you need it. My wife is the main driver for this. She had this in North Dakota in the last winter. Just after I left it with her, my soon to be Uncles had to take it off road. The worst thing about this truck is that the running boards limited the off road ability. My Uncles would learn this when they were up in the hills and the running board hit a rock and sheared the bolts holding it in place. According to my wife, they then backed it down the hill because the front part of the running board was hanging low. They have video of this, but they have not shared it with me. I think that they might have been afraid that I would not marry their niece or something like that. I will be sure to write about the time that I return the favor and take my new Uncle's rig for a spin!
