Kawasaki KLX300R
Dirt Bike
This bike is awesome! It does exactly what you tell it to do! I have been riding with my nephew in the trails with some huge woops and have been very surprised with how well this performs. This bike is way better than my old XR350R. Specifically it is much lighter, more power, easier to handle, easier to start (note: the KLX requires exact positioning of kick lever as stated on the fuel tank to start). This bike has a small pipe mounted in the muffler that makes that exhaust the size of a small pencil. This is great if you want to sneak around and see wild life. Two bolts hold this restriction in place and one removed you can hear the bike. My nephew has a old two-stoke and I could not hear the KLX when he was within 1/4 mile of me with the restrictor in place. Very forgiving if you have it in too high of a gear and need more grunt to get out of something sticky. Over all the performance has been outstanding and a pleasure to ride. Strong enough to keep up with anything. Smooth enough to ride all day. I purchased a service manual from Kawasaki and it is loaded with great details on this bike. It was pricey, but has enough value to justify the expense. This is what I wrote before I took delivery: I purchased this from Kawasaki and am having it shipped to Michigan. I look forward to the KLX300R because it has smooth predictable useful power that can be run and used with minimum maintenance. I like to work on machines but I ready do not want the issues of a full race machine. At the bottom of this page you will find a link to www.kawasaki.com and a copy of the spec page on this model. I hope that I will like this bike as much as I liked by XR350R. It is much lighter and it is way more advanced then that bike was.
