Honda Elite 50
I purchased from a friend of mine that had it sitting in his garage for about 4 years. It needed a top end (piston and rings) and the carb cleaned. While inside I modified a few items and made this into one screaming machine. Legally this motor scooter was a moped and was only designed to run at 30 mph. I was able to get this one to scream along at 49 mph. I did put larger tires on it so it did not feel unsafe. However, driving a moped this fast is dangerous because other drivers do not know that you are going as fast as you are. The first time that I got it running I passed a car in a 45 mph zone and the guy driving started to get beat by his wife for driving so slow. So he started to speed up like we were racing and I had a on coming car that had just turn towards us so I had to hit the brakes. I had several car do pull out in front of me because they just did not think I was going that fast. On the fun side I could ride a wheelie on it (rear fender must be cut to do this). My brother rode it once...he did not know that I modified it and it literally walked away from him. He got on. Grabbed a hand full of throttle, and went to give it a push. The clutch was modified so it stalled much higher and by the time he went to push the scooter was out from under him and he was being dragged behind it doing a wheelie. It was not good on the plastic but the value of the laugh (he was not hurt) is priceless.
